Hanes Xmas 1407:
.
The writing had been on the wall since 1405; the march on Woodbury Hill being the high water mark - but previous to that, defeats in Gwent’s ''Bloody Spring'' were ominous signs of what was to come. In 1406, despite the political achievement of the Pennal Letter, military wise, things were starting to turn for the worse as ''Welsh Rebels'', during the Autumn of that year, began to submit. first submissions took place on the Gower, Ystrad Tywi and South Ceredigion, followed by further submissions on Ynys Môn.
.
1407 was to witness the Welsh being pushed back with major English offensives taking place across a broad front, from Flintshire, to English naval attacks in the Menai Straits. However,
the most damaging military blow against the Welsh was the major English offensive that placed Castell Aberystwyth under siege in May. Matters worsened when the French and Bretons made peace treaties with the English in November 2007 ending Glyndŵr's hope of continued foreign support. Could it get any worse? Yes it could - and it did during the winter of 1408. By the end of 2007, the English were preparing to put Glyndŵr's last great stronghold, Castell Harlech, under siege. Sadly, it was at this castle that Glyndŵr and his family and closest supporters were to spend their last Xmas together, let us hope it was a happy one?

Hanes Glyndwr 1408.

1408 started off badly. This time, weather was not on the side of the Welsh who had to endure a harsh winter spread throughout the land. Coping with such, along with the continuous threat of English attacks weakened theWelsh resolve. During 1408, it was going to get considerably worse for the Welsh Cause with Harlech Castle finally under siege. However, the castle was to hold out until 1409, and it is with this in mind that we are calling upon Pobl Glyndŵr and other patriots to prepare to meet Glyndŵr's call for a mass mobilisation in Harlech during 2009 to commemorate, not just the heroic siege and last stand at Castell Harlech, but also to celebrate the nine years of epic struggle by the Welsh to Liberate their land from English Rule.
.
Solid reasons there for the organizing of
a GREAT NATIONAL GLYNDŵR FESTIVAL at HARLECH in 2009 and, as always stressed by us. The local community should assume the initiative for organising such - and indeed, the local community has organised good Glyndŵr events in the past. But, I'm sure they would welcome all assistance offered and if anybody out there is able and willing to help, please contact us initially, and we will put you in contact with the local Glyndŵr Group at Harlech so that possibly, one and all can work together to organise an even greater Glyndŵr commemoration than the one we organised in Machynlleth in Mehefin 2004. This time around, lets really mean business and truly see TEYRNAS GLYNDŵR established. To do that, Pobl Glyndŵr Harlech will need 'big time' help So, Pobl Glyndŵr everywhere, time to step forward. Time to ask, not what can Embassy Glyndŵr do for 'Achos Glyndŵr' but what can you do for Achos Glyndŵr! Lets go for it!
.
There is not much to celebrate about 1408, during 2008, but, we also call upon Aberystwyth to make some effort towards commemorating the siege and fall of Castell Aberystwyth. Plus, is it not time Ceredigion Patriots commemorated their hero, Rhys Ddu ap Maredudd? C'mon do it!
