21 Mehefin 1404: The Annual 'Dydd y Senedd' National Patriotic Festival?

THE ANNUAL NATIONAL GLYNDŴR FESTIVAL? Unfortunatly not? but we are still endeavouring to prompt an annual 'Coronation Commemoration' to be held at Mid Summer in Machynlleth – Prif Ddinas Owain IV , so read on:

The purpose of this festival would be to commemorate the establishment of Senedd Glyndŵr and to celebrate the coronation of Owain Glyndŵr, Owain IV ‘Tywysog Cymru’ on 21 Mehefin 1404 at the time of ‘Troad y Rhod’.

Regardless of the historic facts of importance associated to this event in Hanes Glyndŵr, or of the fact that we have declared this day to be Dydd y Senedd/Dydd y Coroni, again, it does not look as if the above proposed ‘Gŵyl Fawr Glyndŵr Genedlaethol’ will be held - despite us having, in 2004, on the 600th anniversary of this most historic date in our history, launched a fantastic three day festival which was meant to lay down the foundation for a major annual National Patriotic Festival – Great gathering of Pobl Glyndŵr and other nationalist patriots. However, Embassy Glyndŵr staff have, since 21 Mehefin 2004, sustained the dawn ceremony at Craig Coroni Glyndŵr/Golygfa Glyndŵr at Penrallt, Machynlleth, often without local support whom, it seems, cannot wake up early enough to be involved in this ceremony either, let alone organise anything else. 100's of Druids and other pagans manage to make their presence at Glastonbury and elsewhere but, in Cymru, to get up in time to welcome the dawn at 'Troad y Rhod' at Craig Coroni Owain Glyndŵr is, obviously too much to ask! Perhaps we should request 'Druids Cymru' to perform this ceremony on 21 Mehefin annually? After all, a Breton 'Cofiwn' style movement has Druids officiate at their ceremonies in Brittany - so why not Welsh Druids to organise and hold this ceremony if local and other Pobl Glyndŵr and other Nationalist - Patriots are not up to it?

Neither Welsh patriots nor Pobl Machynlleth, it seems, are bothered to see remembered the most important of Hanes Glyndŵr events and dates worth commemorating and celebrating - despite the fact that in 2004, we welcomed you all to join us atop Penrallt at Dawn at Graig Coroni Glyndŵr to see ‘Baneri Glyndŵr’ risen up there at ‘Golygfa Glyndŵr’ .

plus, then, to join in a grand Glyndŵr Parade ......

and the ‘Juratus Oweyn’ ceremony held at Parliament Green...

...and, not forgetting the wonderful ‘Noson Glyndŵr’ social evening in the local Rugby Club. Despite all this, not only are most nationalists disinterested in continuing this festival, not enough local patriots can be found to help organise it. We can only say... pityful! After all, and do note, that 'Cofiwn' in the 1970’s launched a Merthyr 1831 Rising Commemoration and, due to much local commitment, that event is still organised annually by a local commemoration committee. So, what’s the problem Machynlleth? Same problem with Corwen re 16 Medi 'Dydd Glyndŵr', pretty pathetic to say the least as also, no annual 16 Medi commemoration has been sustained there either. Again, this is left to Embassy Glyndŵr staff to hold a small ceremony , annually, at Llys Glyndyfrdwy. The Town Council should be up for this but it’s not - and where are local patriots - indeed, local Pobl Glyndŵr? So, what is the problem? Seems to us lack of effort, energy and indeed, lack of enthusiasm or, lack of know how? whatever, read on:

So what’s to do about a Machynlleth Commemoration? Well it’s up to you, local and/or national Pobl Glyndŵr/Nationalists/Patriots to show some get up and go for it and just do it! Really, the local community should organise the festival's foundations and then invite national organisations and societies to contribute events and other patriots to participate in any number of ways. Embassy Glyndŵr itself is not prepared to be fully pro-active in these developments regards a great public commemoration and celebration if others are not also prepared to commit. 'SOAP BOX NATION'

An annual Great National Debate around Cofeb Glyndŵr in Plas Grug (which will help give that same special purpose to the memorial as the Cilmeri Cenotaph.). A kind of national ‘Speakers Corner’ such as at Hyde Park, London! and like that one in London, Just turn up and do it! Gather around the memorial, and start speaking. If you wish, appoint a chairman to conduct proceedings in an orderly fashion.

This year, we suggest you hold such on Saturday 23 June 2007 - and why not make this years subject: "Whither Cenedl Glyndŵr - Cenedl Cymru Rydd", in other words, WHAT ABOUT WELSH INDEPENDENCE? with, of course, reference to all the ''hot air shinnanigins'' going on at the ''Shisters Sham Senedd'' these past weeks. After all, you're not going to leave it all to the politicians are you? surely not! The fate and future of 'Cenedl Glyndŵr' in their hands? Whatever, discuss and debate at your possible annual 'Cymanfuoedd Glyndŵr'

Possible Programme, but do remember, we are not organising, you just turn up and do it, and if you want same next year, appoint a local patriot as the National Convenor for the Cymanfaoedd ger Cofeb Glyndŵr, Y Plas, Machynlleth. A major annual event at any future Machynlleth Commemoration will be this ''Soap Box Nation'' gathering at 'Y Plas' around 'Cofeb Glyndŵr' for the annual ''Cymanfaoedd Glyndŵr", to ''Vent a Mythology'' (Exoteric) as in days of old. (Dadleuoedd were usually held at night times, obviously held at places and times to avoid spies or English patrols). In ancient and medieval times up to the 19th century it was traditional for the Welsh to assemble in open spaces, particularly mountain tops to ''discuss and debate'' issues of great concern to themselves, their communities and nation. It is time to revive and restore this great native tradition to again gather and to assemble in ''open spaces''. We would propose that there be no better time or place to do this, than at Prif Ddinas Owain IV, - chiefly around 'Cofeb Glyndŵr' at 'Y Plas', Machynlleth, We thus designate and declare this area of ‘Cofeb Glyndŵr’ as our place of free speech. This again is symbolic of the gathering of representatives of ‘Cymundau Cymru’ to Glyndŵr’s Senedd Cymru, it is quite possible too, that this ‘Senedd Cymru’’ given the great number of people present was, for the most part, actually held in the open - maybe at the place we now know as ‘Y Plas’?

Y Plas: So, lets have a ‘Cymanfaoedd’. In our times, our discussions and debates Will possibly be less 'esoteric' and more 'exoteric' but, of equal importance as part of the 21 June 'Dydd y Senedd’ Annual Great National Debate ''Whither Cenedl Glyndŵr' of ''Soap Box Nation 2007''. All Pobl Glyndŵr and other patriots should feel 'entitled' to speak at these ‘Cymanfaoedd’. Anyone who wishes to do so, may get up on their ‘soap box’ and make a speech on any subject of importance to them. If wishing to so do, those who gather there may elect their own chairman for Y Cyfamanfaoedd at Cofeb Glyndŵr and please, every one, no shouting, swearing or argueing – be tolerant and debate if you wish, but be sensible about it. Pobl Glyndŵr may also, if they wish, sit around in smaller groups picnic-ing and discussing any number of issues of concern to them with, high on everyone's agenda being the future of our struggle to restore Cenedl Glyndŵr – Cenedl Cymru Rydd and the re-establishment of Senedd Glyndŵr. If nothing else, at the very least mark this anniversary with an outing to Machnlleth to visit Canolfan Owain Glyndŵr, whilst there step onto Parliament Green and look up to 'Graig Coroni Glyndŵr' and make, or reaffirm your oath of 'Juratus Oweyn'. Then, follow such with a visit to Tŷ Glyndŵr, Cefn Caer at Pennal; most importantly, make it a family and friends midsummer 'Troad y Rhod' outing.

Now what can be easier than that, just turn up and instead of being "closeted" in your forums get out into the fresh air to face to face ‘discuss and debate’ the BIG ISSUES OF THE DAY, did I hear someone say 'WELSH INDEPENDENCE?' HHHhhhmm!!! But time we talked less about that and got a bit more active, yes! Maybe, with some local help, a parade may be organised from Cofeb Glyndŵr to Parliament Green, and why not make it the beginning of a long march for Welsh Independence - and dare we suggest, that on 21 June 2007, ‘Dydd y Senedd/Dydd y Coroni’, the time of talking about Welsh Independence ends and the action begins, by on that day, as well as thinking and talking about Welsh Independence perhaps patriotically protesting for 'WELSH INDEPENDENCE'...

Now, we are not going to get ourselves involved in any of this, our contribution stops at this promotion and prompting - and our annual ceremony of the 'Dawning of the Day' when ‘Ogof Glyndŵr’ is revealed, opens and Owain Glyndŵr, our past, present and future ‘Tywysog Cymru’, rides forth with his retinue to revisit the land which had once been, and will again become Cenedl Glyndŵr....

.....but which, at present, will remain in servitude until such time as Pobl Glyndŵr, in their 1000’s with 1000’s of ‘Baneri Glyndŵr’, assemble at ‘Troad Y Rhod’ in Machynlleth – Prif Ddinas Owain IV as they started to do in the year 2004 - but then forgot to continue. So, Pobl Glyndŵr and true nationalist patriots, eyes now towards Mid Summer/Troad y Rhod at Machynlleth, to assemble in ‘Achos Glyndŵr’ and then perhaps march for Owain Glyndŵr or, is all this a bit of ‘Gwaith Glyndŵr’ too far?

Please note, that at present we are developing a dedicated CENEDL GLYNDŴR Blog which will chiefly concern the establishement of this annual festival. In this blog, we shall post up various ideas and initiatives that may be of advantage to those keen to establish a major National Patriotic Festival at Machynlleth at mid-summer, an event, by the way which will not clash with other Glyndŵr events - in the same way as happens re 16 Medi ‘Dydd Glyndŵr’ commemorations and celebrations. It should not be lost on you that thus, this Machynlleth Summer Glyndŵr event could become the largest of Hanes Glyndŵr commemorations and celebrations - with a bit of gumption and commitment that is - and not least, a bit of Nationalist – Patriot unity and solidarity. 2009 will mark 60th anniversary of this mile stone event, so lets start working towards making the 'Dydd y Senedd' commemoration in Machynlleth that year a massive mobalisation for WELSH INDEPENDENCE. I suggest that at this year's 'Cyfamanfaoedd' in Machynlleth, informal talks are held on the establishing of a National Independence Rally Co-ordinating Committee to start looking into the organisation of this mobalisation. Nothing like planning and preparing well ahead, if one wants a huge success. So, go for it and ''SIEZE THE TIME''.
