Have Welsh Nationalists Learnt Any Lessons?
Glyndwr Calls for Independance not Appeasement with the Assembly of Colonial Collaboration and Coalitions.
.Whither Welsh Independence? We have been here before but will you listen to us now? or, will Welsh Nationalists just bumble along aimlessly? Enough of the talk! It is now time for action! But, have Welsh Nationalists learnt the lesson? What Lesson? Quite simply this: Any serious Welsh Nationalist Party must know that it cannot trust, let alone work or collaborate with Colonial Unionist Parties, be they of left, right or centre. There is now only one way forward and that is by means of political and an extra-political campaigning struggle for our nation's Independence.
.
..
It really has been ''SHAMBOLICKS'' in and around the 'SHAM SENEDD', over the weeks since the Assembly elections. What, with all this back room ''wheeling and Dealing'', is this really how the people of Cymru/Wales want their so called representatives to the ''National Assembly'' to govern Wales? As each day dawned, it got messier and messier, with daft talk of a ''Rainbow Coalition'' of Tories and Liberals with Plaid Cymru. Surely, nationalists must have known this was a non - starter for the most obvious of reasons, that the ''Plaid Left'' could not - and would not settle for an agreement that put the Tories into office at the Assembly. Apart from that, such a ''Rainbow Coalition'' looked like a largely 'Rural Wales/Cymru (with one Tory Seat in Caerdydd) V 'Urban/Post-Industrial Wales/Cymru (The South and North East)' coalition. If certain Plaid A.M's had gone along with that, they would have been commiting ''political suicide'' so, why on earth the nationalists were playing such a game of political brinkmanship, god only knows - but for sure, 'Plaid' has ended up with egg on it's face. Surely now, nationalists must be asking what on earth has been gained? and possibly in a bewildered fashion asking ''what and where next?''.
.looking at the post election map of Cymru/Wales, it is very interesting to see how our history (and of course geography too) dictates the politics and determines the shaping of modern political Wales/Cymru; generally, reflecting that old Anglo - Norman 'Marcher Walliae' and that, known in medieval times - in latin, as 'Pura Wallia', that is the old royal principalities of Gwynedd and Deheubarth which are, of course, also the ancient lands of Cunedda, 'Tiroedd Cunedda''. Not only is this area, for the greater part, rural, it is the greater region of our land where the native language survives. But, what is really interesting is that 'Plaid' holds all the Assembly Seats in this region aka 'Tiroedd Cunedda'. Perhaps the rural, cultural and conservative membership of Plaid Cymru members and its erst-while support should now become totally realistic and pragmatic, and re-establish themselves as PLAID TIROEDD CUNEDDA and seek ''Independence'' for these ancient Cymric lands.
.Seems a better idea to me than ever again, at some future date, considering going into coalition with the Tories - which would only, in time, cause it's own left to break away possibly siding with pro - Independence people in the Labour Party (if any?) to maybe establish a PROGRESSIVE PEOPLES PARTY. In the long term, I can see the ''centerists'' of the Liberal Party eventually merging with populist Tories to form perhaps a WELSH SOCIALIST DEMOCRATIC PARTY. I am sure many 'non - left' nationalists of Plaid Cymru would be prepared to join such, whilst all the die hard ''BRIT - UNIONISTS'' left over would possibly form an ANGLO - WELSH UNIONIST PARTY - or maybe just join UKIP, or maybe the WELSH CHRISTIAN PARTY?
.All this of course is hypothetical or perhaps even fantasy, but time will tell. If recent events are anything to go by, anything seems possible. The main problem is that still far to few people bother to vote - and those nationalists, who are shouting for poportional representation, should notice that the Tories in this recent Assembly Election actually got more votes than Plaid, to me this speaks of a great danger to the Nationalists - who for years, in their ''rural'' power base, have had a natural ''Tory Vote'' swinging to them to keep Labour out. Much could change over the years ahead if the Liberals and the Tories started to form an alliance or maybe ''Election Pacts''.
.However, where does this get us regards WELSH INDEPENDENCE, with a Plaid too scared to mention ''that word'', and will play it down even more if seeking pacts and coalitions with the Liberals and Tories, to whom ''Independence'' is an anathaema. Thus, we repeat the question ''WHITHER WELSH INDEPENDENCE? especially when the only really pro-active Independence Campaign seems to be one that just talks! talks! talks! appearing to be no more than an exercise in promoting an ''Intellectual Anxt'' rather than getting down to some real RADICAL ACTION, as they should be doing. At the moment, ''DOING NOTHING'' is not an option, did you read that and understand what was said, DOING NOTHING IS NOT AN OPTION, WE NEED ACTION FOR INDEPENDENCE. Otherwise the talk! talk! talk! is nought but a distraction and divertion that in reality serves only the ''DEVOLUTION DILLETANTES''.
.So, what to do; for starters, go and read previous posts on this subject of 'Whither Independence', then take a look at the posting information on 'DYDD Y SENEDD' (21 June) and if you have any real gumption, you will have the ''wit'' to use this day, as a day of campaigning for Independence, all over Cymru/Wales, but particularly outside the ''Sham Senedd'' in 'Bae Caerdydd'. Other than that, remember our call to annually hold a ''Soap Box Nation'' - Cymanfuoedd - Gathering around the 'Cofeb Glyndwr' in the grounds of 'Y Plas', Machynlleth on Saturday following the 21 Mehefin (this year 23 Mehefin) as the political contribution to the annual commemoration of the day, in 1404 when Owain Glyndwr established his parliament and was crowned 'Tywysog Cymru'.
.Your 'Soap Box Nation' in it's discussions and debates may well want to, not only consider the getting up and running of a RADICAL CAMPAIGN FOR WELSH INDEPENDENCE, but might well also consider the possible future need of establishing a PLAID GLYNDWR - Welsh Soveriegnty Party, perhaps in time to consider standing candidates to the next Assembly Elections in 2011, under the umbrella of Independence and on a platform of abolishing the Assembly in Cardiff - to be replaced with a restored Senedd Glyndwr in Machynlleth. Anyway, to inspire and motivate you all forward, why not take a look at the monster Plaid Cymru Rally calling for a SENEDD I GYMRU, held in Machynlleth in 1949. See below means of linking to:

2009, will mark the 60th anniversary of this rally, then held by Plaid Cymru in October, not even on 16 Medi 'Dydd Glyndwr'. Whatever, that's 2 years down the road, time enough to start planning, preparing and organising for another ''monster rally'', this time, full on for WELSH INDEPENDENCE. Hopefully, you will not be still talking two years down the road, but will have been campaigning hard for WELSH INDEPENDENCE enabling this proposed rally for 2009 to be a great concluding climax prior to getting ready for the Assembly Elections of 2011 (100 anniversary of the Investiture of 1911 - quite significant). In which, if no Plaid Glyndwr Candidates, then, at the least, a list of Pro - Independence Candidates to actively support and vote for, YES! these are matters true radical Welsh Nationalists need to be discussing in Machynlleth on Saturday 23 Mehefin 2007, do it and make it a historic day, the day Welsh Nationalists decided not only to think of themselves as Welsh Nationalists but acted like true Welsh Nationalists in a true struggle for Independence. Plus, do not forget, some of you, work up the nerve to go down to the ''Sham Senedd'' on 21 Mehefin 2007 'Dydd y Senedd' and demand a referendum on Independence. Time to stop talking and writing and to get off your knees and fight back. END THE FOOLISHNESS OF FLIPANCY WITH THE FUTURE OF OUR HOMELAND. We suggest you look to Scotland and Lithuania for examples as how to really show you mean business, time to get on to the streets with protests and demonstrations. After these weeks of ''shinnanigins and shambolics'' can ''Nationalist'' A.M's ever be trusted to deliver Welsh Independence? One thing is for certain, we sure cannot ever trust the Colonial Unionist Parties, do not ever think otherwise, ok!
